Public memorial service to honor, remember the life of former Sen. Birch Bayh
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A public memorial and the Indiana Statehouse Thursday will honor the life of late Indiana Sen. Birch Bayh.
The former U.S. senator and Indiana House Speaker died in March at the age of 91.
His legacy includes two constitutional amendments. he is also considered a driving force behind Title IX, which mandates equal rights for women in public education and athletics.
Bayh’s sons, former U.S. senator and Indiana governor, Evan Bayh and attorney Christopher Bayh, will deliver the eulogy.
The service gets underway at noon in the south atrium. It’s open to all.
