FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — New Haven-based Do It Best Corp.’s annual technology event, Techapalooza, has named the winners of its 2020 competition. Purdue University Fort Wayne students Sara Larson and Francisco Bolivar were awarded the top prize for their project “Drone Scanning for Inventory Management.”

The winning project focused on drone technology and the future of supply chain.

“We learned a lot about teamwork, communication, project management, and overcoming obstacles which has only made us grow into better students and IT professionals,” said Larson.

The 2020 Do it Best Techapalooza Student Project competition, typically held in-person, was rescheduled and reformatted due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event was live streamed online on April 24 to announce the winning project.

This year, Do it Best says competing teams created videos of their projects and submitted them to Do it Best employees for voting.

Do it Best Vice President of IT John Mergy said, “Our team is continually impressed with the students’ creativity, innovation and results. This year was no exception. The students demonstrated their professionalism and determination working through such an exceptionally challenging time.”
