Purdue’s Gelen Robinson arrested for OWI, alcohol possesion
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue sophomore football player Gelen Robinson was arrested early Saturday morning for operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or more and illegal possession of alcohol.
The arrest was made at the intersection of University and First Street.
It’s not the first time that Robinson has gotten in trouble for an alcohol-related incident. Last June, Robinson was cited by the Purdue University Police Department for minor consumption.
Robinson appeared in 11 games during the 2014 season. He made 20 tackles, including two sacks.
Purdue spokesperson Matt Rector says head football coach Darrell Hazell is aware of the situation and that he will let the legal process play out and take course of action afterwards.
Last year, Hazell suspended safety Taylor Richards for two games following an alcohol-related arrest.
Robinson is the son of former Purdue basketball great Glenn Robinson.
