Rain returns by Friday with another heat wave set to sweep in for next work week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday morning, everyone! Roll down the windows and enjoy some free a/c this morning courtesy of Mother Nature. We’ll start off in the low to mid 50s in many areas under mostly clear skies.

With plenty of sunshine and a new south wind, temperatures will climb quickly. We’ll jump into the low 70s by lunchtime and the upper 70s this afternoon.

High temps will reach the low 80s in southern Indiana.

Late this evening, outside of a stray cloud, we’ll cool down quickly into the mid 60s under mostly clear skies.

Overnight lows will be cool and crisp once again for the Friday morning drive.

Enjoy the sunny streak while it lasts, as rain is set to return to the forecast tomorrow as early as mid-day.

We’ll likely stay dry for the morning drive, but a broken line of rain and storms will slide in through the early afternoon.

It’s looking promising for high school football tomorrow evening or any other outdoor plans you might have. Expect a stray shower or two, otherwise, mostly cloudy skies for most with temps in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Another round of rain is likely for the Colts 5k Saturday morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s for the ‘Finish on the 50’ 5k.

Even with early rain, we will rebound into the mid 80s Saturday afternoon and the upper 80s for the second half of the weekend.

Overall, rain chances the next several days after the weekend will be very limited.

Hopefully you enjoyed the brief taste of fall, because with limited rain chances and a sustained south wind, temps will skyrocket through next week.

We have not seen the 90s for a while, but a sustained heat streak looks to return through the second half of next week with highs at or above 90° through next work week.
