Record heat: Indy tops 70
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Old records have fallen thanks to highs in the lower 70s. Indy hit 72 degrees, breaking the old record high of 67 degrees set back in 1983.
Indy isn’t alone; other cities with record highs include Lafayette, Muncie, Terre Haute and Bloomington.
Each city topped 70 degrees except Lafayette, which saw a high of 67 degrees.
It’s been a beautiful start to the weekend with plentiful sunshine and warm southwest breezes.
Temps have climbed way above normal in central Indiana.
This time of year highs are normally in the lower 40s.
This warmth won’t last, though. Saturday night, changes take shape.
Mild temps will linger as clouds build but there’s a chance of rain. An area of low pressure will make its way across southern Indiana, triggering scattered showers Saturday night an early Sunday.
Sunday, highs will fall back to near 50 degrees.
