Ride shut down after boy has medical issue during festival
SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — An 11-year-old boy has been transported to a hospital after an incident at a festival.
The Shelbyville Police Department said the boy had a medical episode just before 8 p.m. while riding The Zipper at the St. Joseph Festival.
Police said operators stopped the ride when the person the boy was riding with alerted them to the issue. When they went to let the boy out of the cart, he fell.
Police said he was flown by medical helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.
The ride was shut down and taped off. The State Fire Marshal is en route to inspect the ride.
