Riley Children’s Hospital creates prom boutique

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Part of Riley Children’s Hospital had a makeover Thursday.

It turned into an extravagant boutique.

Patients and their families were treated to some shopping ahead of the Riley Cancer Center Family Prom.

They picked out dresses, suits, shoes and even jewelry, all for free.

Organizers hope the special outfits will help give kids and parents a night to remember, even while going through some tough times.

Kasee Carlstedt, the prom co-chair, said, “That’s why we do what we do, so these kiddos and their families can have a moment where they can kind of forget about what’s going on in their lives and just have fun. And seeing the smiles on their faces when they find the right dress or even the right little boys finding the right suit and then when they walk into prom and they’re smiling, it’s amazing.”

The fun will continue with a spa day for hair styling, makeup and pampering before prom night in May.
