Road to Rio Tour arrives in downtown Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Olympics are just over a month away, and there’s a big event in Indianapolis this weekend to celebrate Team USA.

The Road to Rio Tour is stopping at Monument Circle on Friday and Saturday.

The tour is only making nine stops across the United States, and Indianapolis is one of them. It’s a very fitting stop since the U.S. Olympic diving team trials just wrapped up at IUPUI. Noblesville native David Boudia and Steele Johnson from Carmel qualified for the games.

The tour features interactive exhibits, music and a chance to meet members of Team USA.

Boudia spent time on Friday signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

People at the tour say it’s exciting to meet these athletes and not just watch them on television.

Boudia says one of the best parts about this tour is inspiring young athletes.

It’s cool just to be a little part of their journey along the way, and I know they have huge goals and I’m just honored to be a part of that,” he said.

The event runs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hunter Hayes will be preforming at 3 p.m. Saturday.

All activities are free and open to the public.
