INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Roncalli High School has posted a job opening and the guidance counselor who was suspended for her same-sex marriage says the opening is for her job.
Shelly Fitzgerald, who has worked at the Catholic school for 15 years, said she did not resign but she “can confirm” that opening is for her job. She declined to provide any further details and asked News 8 to contact her attorney.
Fitzgerald’s story made national headlines in August when she said someone turned in her marriage certificate to school leaders. She said administrators told her she could lose her job if she didn’t end her same-sex marriage.
The listing for a guidance counselor for the 2018-2019 school year is on Roncalli’s website.
News 8 has reached out to the school’s principal and Fitzgerald’s attorney.
