San Francisco restaurant serving up world’s first robot-made burger

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco just stepped up its food game by…. a lot.

The world’s first robot-crafted burger will roll off a conveyor belt into the hands of some lucky people on Wednesday, June 27 at Creator.

How exactly does it work?

According to Bloomberg, the product is assembled and cooked in a machine that contains 20 computers, 350 sensors, and 50 actuator mechanisms.

From slicing and toasting the bun to cooking patties and seasoning, the machine can do it all in five minutes.

The price tag on what could possibly be the freshest burger ever? $6.

“June 27 is a big day,” Creator’s founder Alex Vardakostas told Bloomberg. “When I started this process eight years ago, there wasn’t the inevitability that this would happen with food. Now not only is it inevitable, but it also produces a much higher quality product.”

Vardakostas is joined by engineers, designers, and roboticists from the likes of NASA, Apple, Tesla, and Walt Disney Imagineering R&D.

The only human workers you’ll see are the ones at the front of the machine to take orders and payment and some at the end to serve the burgers.

The hype seems to be real, though, since as of right now the only way you can get your hands on one of these burgers is to get on a waitlist for August.

Tickets go on sale in July for lunch on Wednesdays and Thursday.

According to the website, August will have multiple dates.

Tickets to have the $6 burger have since sold out for the months of June and July.

The ticket gets you a burger and you can also get fries, salads, beer, wine, and organic sodas for extra.

Don’t worry — if you don’t make it on to the waitlist for August, Creator will open to the public in September.

Creator is located at 680 Folsom Street, 120 in San Francisco.
