Search underway for escaped Daviess County inmate

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is asking for your help with finding an escaped inmate.

They’re looking for 23 year old Shane Michael Allen Cates. Police say he is five feet, eight inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen wearing green jail pants, a white top and blue shoes, police say.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office received a call from the Daviess Community Hospital. Hospital officials stated that an inmate being treated there had escaped through a secondary window.
