Semi splits in 2, blocks east side interstate ramp

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An interstate ramp on the east side of Indianapolis was blocked early Monday morning after another weather-related crash.

According to police, around 1:45 a.m., a semi driver was getting onto the ramp of Interstate 465 south to Interstate 70 when the trailer started to slide.

The trailer hit a pole and split in half. Part of it went into a ditch while the other half remained on the ramp.

Police say the driver of the semi was not injured. The semi was hauling some kind of sand abrasive.

The scene was cleared around 5:15 a.m.

This crash was one of hundreds of related to the snow that began falling Sunday afternoon.
