Separate shooting deaths in Fort Wayne ruled as homicides

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Authorities have ruled the deaths of two men killed in separate shootings this week in Fort Wayne as homicides.

The Allen County Coroner’s office says 21-year-old Jaymaris Alexander of Fort Wayne was found dead on Wednesday in the back of an empty home slated for demolition.

Fort Wayne police officers were called to an apartment complex’s parking lot about six hours later on a report of a shooting.

The coroner’s office says 47-year-old Mark Kenchanh of Fort Wayne was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

Both men died from at least one gunshot wound. Investigations into both shooting deaths are ongoing.

The coroner’s office says the men’s deaths were the sixth and seventh homicides in the county so far this year.
