Shelbyville man arrested for child porn, child exploitation
SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A Shelbyville man is behind bars, accused of downloading child porn from the internet.
68-year-old Michael Sermersheim was arrested Tuesday morning by the Indiana State Police.
ISP began investigating Sermsersheim in March, resulting in a search warrant for his residence.
ISP said that evidence was found that Sermersheim downloaded and disseminated child porn from online peer-to-peer networks to digital media.
He faces preliminary charges of child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
He is being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office said Sermersheim will be charged with 27 counts of child exploitation and 27 counts of child pornography on Wednesday.
If convicted, Sermersheim could face up to 162 years in prison.
Court documents refer to Sermersheim as “the most prolific disseminator of child pornography in the state of Indiana.”
