Shots fired at east side hotel

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police responded to a early Sunday morning shooting at an east side Holiday Inn Express off I-70 and Shadeland Avenue.

According to IMPD, they received several calls around midnight on Feb. 8 of reports of loud noises from what sounded like a party on the 7000 block of Western Select Drive.

After arriving on scene, police were told that the shots were reportedly fired from the fifth floor of the hotel room.

Police evacuated the surrounding rooms on the fifth floor where the reported shots were fired. The evacuation included three families.

Reports state that a bullet was found in the hall way outside of the room, and another bullet was lodged inside the wall opposite the room, where a family of three were staying.

The hotel reported that the fifth floor of the hotel had a rather heavy occupancy Saturday night and Sunday morning, with nine families who stayed there for a local volleyball tournament, and another three families staying for a Girl Scout convention.

IMPD is searching for K. Morgan Walker, who rented the room, and are still investigating.

There were no reports of injuries.
