Small explosion in ‘glamping’ area at IMS

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – Emergency crews responded to a small explosion at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Crews were called out to the Glamptown camping area around 11:15 p.m. for the report of an explosion.

Wayne Township Fire Department officials say all units were disregarded a short time later. One fire truck and emergency medical personnel were responding to the scene.

The accident comes with less than 13 hours before the green flag drops on the Indianapolis 500 race.

Officials at IMS could not release any additional details about the incident on Friday night.
