South side schools cancel class after water main break
GREENWOOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A water main break on the city’s south side forced to schools to cancel classes on Monday.
Citizens Energy said crews were working to repair a break in a water main in the 8000 block of South Meridian Street. The break affected nearly 20 customers which including Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy and Perry Meridian Middle School.
Repairs were expected to be completed with water restored by 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Also a Duke Energy power outage affected that affected more than 750 people in Greenwood Monday morning was responsible for closing one school Monday.
Duke said 763 households lost power around 3:30 a.m. Most were restored by 9 a.m.
The affected area is just west of Greenwood Municipal Airport, according to the Duke outage map.
The outage was due to damaged equipment, the company said.
The schools canceling on Monday include:
- Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy
- Perry Meridian Middle School
- Northeast Elementary School
