Storms return Friday; much cooler air moves in this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our stretch of 90° heat will come to an end, as early fall temps slide into central Indiana for the weekend.

Tonight:

Like the past few evenings, a few spotty showers and storms are around this evening.  Look for these to diminish with the loss of daytime heating, somewhere around mid evening.

Clear, calm and very warm overnight.  Lows fall to the lower 70s.

Friday:

Should be a dry and very warm start to the day.  A cold front swings through the state during the afternoon, firing a few brief waves of showers and storms for the second half of the day.

A few of the storms could be strong severe, with damaging winds the primary concern.  Widespread severe weather is not expected.

For The Zone (High School Football), keep a careful eye on radar for storms – especially near the start of the game.  A few games could be on delays, but conditions should improve as we move later into the evening.

High temperatures should top out in the middle 80s.

Weekend:

Frontal system will stall out just to our south, which could bring a few light showers to our southern counties on Saturday, but overall, the weekend should be dry and MUCH cooler.  Highs only top out in the upper 60s on Saturday, and lower to middle 70s Sunday.

8-day forecast

Could see a couple of rain chances to open up the work week, before the pattern settles down for the second half of the week.  It appears there will be another shot of cooler air coming in by late week, sending overnight lows well into the 40s!  Welcome to Fall!
