Street calm day after investigation at Fogle home

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – A day after FBI agents and other law enforcement agencies raided the home of Subway spokesman, Jared Fogle, things have calmed down in his Zionsville neighborhood.

The United States Attorney’s Office says it is leading the investigation. They’re still not discussing why the raid took place, what they found and if Fogle faces charges.

At Jared Fogle’s home, a white Toyota Camry has not left the driveway. Interior and exterior lights were left on, and the morning newspaper is still in the mailbox. Neighbors say they have not seen the Fogle family since Tuesday.

“I just hope they figure out what is going on. Obviously I hope he’s innocent. If he’s not, then that’s what the justice system is for,” said Ashley Henthorn.

Another neighbor who did not want to be identified said, “I wouldn’t think he’s involved, but we don’t really know him. They seem to be nice people.”

On Tuesday it was a much different scene. The FBI as well as local law enforcement surrounded the Fogle home. They took computers, data and other things from the home. The raid went on all day. After, Fogle was seen leaving in the passenger side of his attorney’s car. Neighbors are still in shock.

“I feel like he’s a pretty private person, which is understandable since he is a public figure. All I’ve seen is them walking around playing with kids. I haven’t seen him. I know he travels a lot,” said Henthorn.

This week’s investigation comes just months after The Jared Foundation’s Executive Director Russell Taylor was arrested on child pornography charges.

Taylor is in jail. Meanwhile, after his arrest, The Jared Foundation announced it was cutting ties with him. However, a Taylor family member exclusively told 24-Hour News 8 that Fogle continued to support Taylor and was even involved in bailing him out of jail.

Fogle’s attorney says his client is fully cooperating with authorities.

“I hope they figure out and find what happened. Because regardless there were kids that were harmed at some point. So, I just hope whoever is responsible is brought to justice,” said Henthorn.

Other neighbors say they’ve never noticed any problems from the Fogle household.

“It was quite a surprise. I didn’t know what to think honestly. I hope he’s innocent. I feel bad for the family going through all this,” another resident told 24-Hour News 8.

Those neighbors didn’t want to be identified.
