Strong storms possible Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We had a summer like Saturday around central Indiana with highs in the middle to even upper 80s. It will be clear and breezy this evening with temperatures falling into the 70s.

Clouds begin to increase during the overnight hours. Look for a few showers early Sunday morning. We’ll stay mostly cloudy during the day with scattered showers possible. The better chance of strong thunderstorms comes later in the afternoon as the cold front arrives.

The Storm Prediction Center has much of central Indiana under a slight risk that the thunderstorms we see may reach severe criteria. Main threats would be strong straight line winds, heavy rainfall, lightning and some hail.

Tomorrow temperatures will start in the upper 60s and climb into the middle to upper 70s with showers and storms on and off during the day.

Cooler air arrives on Monday. It will be dry with partly cloudy skies during much of the day. The one thing you’ll notice is the drop in temperature. Highs will stay in the 60s for the afternoon. Our normal high for this time of year is 73 so we’ll be 5-7 degrees below normal.

Clouds return on Tuesday with highs in the lower 70s. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday and Thursday with highs climbing into the 80s.
