Student arrested for arson after fire at SW Indiana school

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. (AP) – Police say a southwestern Indiana high school student has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at a school.

Mount Vernon police say 18-year-old Clay Siesky was arrested Tuesday morning and lodged in the Posey County Jail.

Authorities tell WFIE-TV a soap dispenser in a boys restroom at Mount Vernon Senior High School was intentionally set on fire. School officials say Siesky confessed to setting the fire and that he didn’t expect it to get out of control.

The school was evacuated and the fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. Classes resumed a short time later. No one was hurt.
