Suspect sprays cleaning supplies at officers during stand off

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested a man inside a Columbus McDonald’s after a brief stand off on Saturday.

Around 5 a.m. police were called to the McDonald’s located on 3rd Street for a person acting erratically and holding a knife. Police found 36-year-old Lucino Evangelio-Cayetano in a utility closet where he was holding the knife to a bottle of cleaning solution.

The restaurant was evacuated for safety reasons.

Officers attempted to get Evangelio-Cayetano to drop the weapon and cleaning supplies, after repeated attempts the suspect waved the knife towards officers and sprayed the cleaning supply toward them.

Evangelio-Cayetano was tased by officers and taken into custody.

Evangelio-Cayetano was preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness with a weapon, criminal trespass, resisting law enforcement and intimidation.
