SWAT response ends on city’s east side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A special weapons and tactics response on the city’s east side has concluded.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT and negotiators responded to the 4500 block of East Pleasant Run Parkway before 3:30 p.m. to a 35-year-old man barricaded inside a building. He was considered armed and with a possible hostage.
Police later identified the man as Shawn Hatton. He was wanted for violating house arrest on a felony drunken-driving charge in Johnson County.
Police fired two separate rounds of gas into the apartment, and Hatton and another male exited. The other male was not a hostage, police said.
It was not immediately known if Hatton or the other male had a weapon. Police were going to search the apartment.
