Teen hit in late Friday evening shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One male was shot in a late Friday evening shooting.

According to police, an 18-year-old male was shot in the area near 25th Street and Emerson Avenue just before midnight Friday evening.

Police say the victim was in a car in a gas station parking lot when he was shot, after which the victim ran across the street.

An officer, who was filling up his vehicle at the station across the street when the shooting occurred, heard the shots fired and then later saw the male run across the street.

Several vehicles were noticed fleeing the scene moments after the shooting.

Officers soon after found the victim who had been shot.

Police go on to say that the victim sustained a shot to the upper torso and was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.

A car with a busted window and several shell casings were discovered at the scene.

No other individual was injured in the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation.
