Thief leaves trail of money while fleeing robbery scene

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to an armed robbery at a north side Wal-Mart on Tuesday where a robbery suspect left a trail of stolen money in the parking lot.

Officers were called to the 5500 block of North Michigan Road just before midnight Tuesday. Police say a black male dressed in a red sweatshirt and blue jeans reportedly robbed the business. He was also armed with a handgun.

The suspect entered the business and pointed a gun at the manager’s head, according to the police report. Police say the suspect demanded money and began taking cash out of the registers.

IMPD said the suspect dropped cash in the parking lot while he was fleeing the scene on foot. Witnesses say customers began picking up money that he left behind.

Police continue to look for the suspect. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
