Thousands without power across Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Thousands continued to be without power across central Indiana after windy, icy weather Monday.
The number of customers without power has dropped from higher numbers, more than 20,000 combined for AES Indiana and Duke Energy, at the height of Monday afternoon’s ice storm.
As of 10 p.m. Monday:
- AES Indiana was reporting more than 1,700 outages.
- Duke Energy was reporting more than 4,500 outages.
AES tweeted information at 5:36 p.m.: “Freezing rain and high winds made their way through the AES Indiana service territory this afternoon, leaving more than 8,500 customers without power. … AES Indiana crews are responding to 148 separate incidents and will continue to do so throughout the evening and night until all customers are restored. … As we work to restore power safely, please visit our Outage Center for helpful information: aesindiana.com/outages“
