Local music group uniting musicians of all ages

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Students at Edison School of The Arts in Indianapolis will be performing at a Halloween concert Thursday, and with them will be an older group of musicians who are spending their free time mentoring them. It’s a partnership uniting musicians of all ages.

It’s called the Phillips Music Guild.

Some of the men performing Thursday have spent part of their lifetime playing music as members of the group. Recently, they have been spending their free time with music students at Herron High School and Edison School of The Arts.

“What the Phillips Guild is an alliance or collaborating of area musicians who want to help the students get more involved with instrumental music in any way that we can do,” Craig Parmerlee, Phillips Music Guild member said.

The Halloween concert at the Edison School of the Arts is at 7 p.m.

Starting this weekend the Philips Music Guild will hold mentoring sessions on Saturdays for any student musician.
