INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot dead Tuesday afternoon.

It happened in the 1100 block of Jefferson Avenue just after 3 p.m.

Upon arriving on scene, authorities found an unresponsive 38-year-old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead on the scene.

After hearing police sirens neighbors came outside of their homes. One resident told 24-Hour-News 8 he is concerned about what is happening in his neighborhood.

“I worry about my mom, she is 80-years-old,” said Donald Woods.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking for tips.

“We always encourage folks to keep your ears open, keep your eyes open, give us a call and let us know what they know,” said IMPD Officer Jim Gillespie.
