Police release names in east side shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – 47-year-old Hanson Smith was killed and 20-year-old Eron Bonner was shot after shots were fired on the east side Friday evening.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after finding Bonner shot in the face near 20th Street and Houston Street around 6 p.m. Bonner was transferred to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.
Moments later, Smith was found dead nearby in the 1900 block of Olney Street. EMS pronounced the man dead in the vehicle he was found in.
IMPD Sergeant Kendale Adams said he believes the shootings are related.
IMPD has not released any suspect information.
The shooting remains an ongoing investigation.
