Topeka Police arrest groundhog for ‘weather tampering’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –The Topeka Police Department is doing its part to stop this winter weather. The department posted a video to Facebook showing an officer arresting a groundhog for “tampering with the weather.”

“We Kansans don’t like this snow in March,” said the officer to the groundhog as he walked her to his car. “You have the right to change the weather.”

After the groundhog is safe in his patrol vehicle, the officer says charges have been filed against the groundhog and he’s hauling her off to jail.

The video was shot with the help of students in Topeka Public Schools and has more than 68,000 views.
