Truck, Warrick County deputy car collide in Sullivan County

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A Warrick County deputy was involved in an crash in Sullivan County after a vehicle pulled out in front of his squad car.

The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 41 at West Washington Street.

Indiana State Police report the Warrick County Deputy was transporting a 17-year-old detainee at the time of the accident. Officials say a silver 2014 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 68-year-old Anthony Boles of Sullivan, was southbound on U.S. 41 and made a left turn into the median at Washington Street.

Boles was attempting to continue east on Washington Street across the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 when he crossed in front of the Deputy.

The pickup was struck on the right rear passenger side. Boles was not injured but was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

A passenger in the truck was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for neck and back pain. The deputy was not injured but the juvenile he was transporting was taken to the Sullivan County Community Hospital for neck and back pain.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom provided an officer for security at the hospital to assist the WCSO.
