Two Frankfort men plead guilty in fatal crash case
CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Two men from Frankfort are admitting their involvement in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 3-year-old girl.
Thirty-year-old Victor Valencia pleaded guilty to three counts, including reckless homicide and operating while habitual traffic violator causing serious bodily injury in Clinton County Superior Court on Tuesday, and 29-year-old Francisco Valencia pleaded guilty to false informing and resisting law enforcement.
Police say Victor Valencia was behind the wheel on May 2, when he blew through a stop sign on County Road 200 and hit car. Valencia’s truck rolled over and the the car was thrown into a nearby fence. A 3-year-old girl riding in the car was killed.
Police say Victor and his passenger, Francisco Valencia, ran from the scene. Deputies say when a good Samaritan stopped to help, Victor stole their car and took off.
Both men were later arrested.
Victor Valencia could be incarcerated between one to six years for each count. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 9.
Francisco Valencia was sentenced to six months in the Clinton County Jail on each of the two counts. The sentences will run concurrently.
