Two hurt when truck hits bicycle in Edinburgh

EDINBURGH, Ind. (WISH) – The Johnson County Sheriff’s office says two people have been hospitalized after a truck hit the bicycle they were riding Wednesday night.

Police say a pick up truck hit the duo on County Road 800 East near U.S. 252 just before 10 p.m.

The female rider on the bicycle, Cody Shelton, was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital by medical helicopter.  She is listed in critical condition.

The male rider on the bicycle, Cody’s brother, Jake Shelton, was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Witnesses told police they smelled alcohol coming from Jake Shelton at the accident scene.

Police say the pick up truck driver, Isaiah Sutt, tested negative for alcohol in preliminary tests.
