UIndy mascot reunited with his sister ahead of university’s family weekend celebration
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The University of Indianapolis is kicking off its UIndy Family Weekend by sharing a special moment they were able to capture with their mascot Grady the Greyhound.
Grady, a retired racer from Daytona, Florida, arrived on campus in 2019. His sister, Misty, had been by his side until they retired. The dogs were raised together at the same track and with the same trainer. Misty was adopted by Paul Nance and his wife and when they learned about Grady, through his website, they knew they decided to arrange a reunion.
“When we introduced them right at the beginning,” Grady’s handler, Coran Sigman said. “You want to do it in a safe manner, make sure everyone is all good [and] tails were wagging immediately. They were ready to play and connect. It’s nice for this to be Grady’s first family weekend.”
Sigman and her husband are both UIndy alums.
Grady is UIndy’s first live mascot in nearly 40 years.
