Marion, Hamilton counties to start offering COVID vaccine for children
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Children can now get COVID-19 vaccinations from the Marion County and Hamilton County health departments.
For those with questions or concerns about the vaccine and to schedule an appointment, the Indiana website has more information.
Marion County
“The circulation of the delta variant has made it more important than ever to protect our children with the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Dr. Virginia Caine, director and chief medical officer of the department. “I am thrilled that this lifesaving protection will now be available for the 5-11-year-olds in our community. I encourage any hesitant parents to do their homework by reading about the vaccine and approval process from reputable sources like our local media partners, and talk to their pediatrician about the benefits and risks of the COVID vaccine for their child.”
Marion County Public Health Department says walk-ins and those with appointments can get the shot at a number of locations around the city, including these clinics:
- Northeast District, 6042 E. 21st St: noon-4 p.m. Mondays; 3-7 p.m. Tuesdays; and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 6.
- Eagledale Plaza, 2802 Lafayette Road, Suite 13: 8 a.m.-noon Tuesdays.
- Northwest District, 6940 N. Michigan Road: 3-7 p.m. Thursdays; and 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 20.
- South District 7551 S. Shelby St.: 3-7 p.m. Mondays; 8 a.m.-noon Fridays; and 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 13.
- Action Health Center, 2868 N. Pennsylvania St: 3-5 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 13.
Hamilton County
The Hamilton County Health Department is offering vaccines for age 5-11 at the 4-H Fairgrounds, 2003 Pleasant St., Noblesville, and the Trinity Free Clinic, 1045 W. 146th St., Carmel. People can walk in for vaccinations or sign up online.
