INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A large vehicle fire has shutdown two lanes of I-70 Eastbound near Rural Street and Keystone Avenue Wednesday morning.
Officers on scene said an accident between a passenger vehicle and a semi around 3:45 a.m. led to the fire. Police said a car hit a semi that was traveling from South Dakota to North Carolina, the semi then over corrected and flipped.
The semi then burst into flames as diesel fuel leaked onto the roadway. Police said the semi was carrying 47,000 pounds of sunflower seeds.
According to ISP, the female driver of the did suffer minor injuries. She was checked out by medics at the scene, but was later released. The driver of the semi did manage to get out. The driver of the semi is also said to be fine.
The driver of the semi said he’s “blessed” to be walking away from the fire.

Hazmat crews are headed to the scene and it is currently unknown how long those two lanes will be closed.
