Video shows car crashing into Beef O’ Brady’s in Florida

SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — Newly released video shows how lucky six people are to be alive after a car crashed into the Spring Hill Beef O’ Brady’s.

The crash happened on Tuesday. Video released by the Florida Highway Patrol shows the inside of a restaurant and then a car driven by Barbara Markowski, 65, crashes through a window and into the restaurant.

FHP investigators say the sedan jumped the curb.

Kristine Boggs sat in the window booth that took a direct hit as the car barreled into the restaurant. She says there was no time to react.

“I happened to see something out of the corner of my eye, and I looked, and I saw the car coming in,” Boggs recounted. “I blinked, and all of sudden I was knocked probably about eight feet.”

Boggs went to the hospital for a fractured wrist but was later released. Her friend Nancy, however, was significantly more injured and remained in the hospital Tuesday night.

“It’s not a pretty sight,” said Nancy’s husband, Richard Nelson. “Two broken ribs, two broken ankles, lacerations to her head.”

Three people were taken to Bayonet Point Hospital Trauma Center, one of whom was in critical condition and was flown. Two patients were taken to Bayfront Hospital Brooksville and another was taken to Oak Hill Hospital.

The incident is being investigated by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the crash was likely the result of a mechanical issue that caused the driver to lose control, but the cause is still being investigated.
