INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.
Purdue
Northwest Indiana hotel magnate Bruce White donated $30 million to his alma mater Purdue University to turn the Union Club Hotel in West Lafayette into a world-class hotel with a formal restaurant and bar.
It will double as a laboratory learning environment for students.
White serves as president and CEO of Merrillville-based White lodging, which operates more than 170 hotels across the country under brands names that include Alot, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard and Homewood Suites by Hilton.
Eli Lilly
Good news for Eli Lilly’s latest diabeteses treatment.
Ultra Rapid Lispro was shown to be as effective as the drug maker’s Humalog medicine in two late-surge studies.
It also significantly improved post-meal blood sugar levels.
Amazon
Amazon’s decision to raise the minimum wage its pays workers sent shock waves through the entire retail sector.
The entire sector was under pressure as many wondered if other big retailers will be forced to follow suit.
If they do, that wil squeeze profit margins and hurt the stock price.
iPhone
Forum’s are filling up with reports of issues with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, none of the problems are particularly catastrophic.
Some of the complaints are that the XS and XS Max charge when plugged into a lightening cable.
Apple says a fix for that is on the way.
A number of iPhone XS and XS Max users – many of them on the Verizon network say that they’re getting worse reception than they used to in certain areas.
