Widespread rain continues to fall across central Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Saturday evening, everyone! We’ve seen more than the entire monthly average September rainfall in just 24-48 hours in much of central Indiana.
A flash flood WATCH is in place for all of centraI Indiana through 8pm Sunday with some areas already experiencing flash flooding.
We will continue to see widespread rain tonight and temps will fall off into the low 60s before midnight.
Widespread rain will continue through the overnight hours.
Temperatures will manage to drop into the mid to upper 50s by daybreak Sunday.
If you’re headed to the Colts home opener, keep the wet weather gear handy for the walk into Lucas Oil Stadium and prepare for at least a delay or two at IMS for the Brickyard 400.
On-and-off rain will continue through the day Sunday with highs only managing to top out in the mid 60s.
Over the next 24-36 hours, rain will finally wrap-up but not before some areas see 1-3” more inches of unneeded rainfall.
Rain will finally clear out Monday and temps will slowly rebound with a sunny streak next week. Highs will return to the 80s by next Thursday.
If you plan to travel to or have any interests along the east coast, keep a close eye on Florence. Currently a tropical storm, Florence will rapidly intensify in the coming days. The storm looks to either make a landfall, or at a minimum, impact the east coast anywhere from N. Florida to Virginia or even further northward by the middle of this coming work week.
We’ll see mild temps and mostly clear skies for high school football next Friday with just isolated rain chances next weekend.
