Wintry mix today; Accumulating snow by Friday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A cold start to Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 20s to near 30°. A cold front out west will increase a wintry mix by mid to late morning. A mix will transition to rain once we get to the afternoon hours and should exit around dinner time.

Highs Wednesday will top out in the upper 40s. Clear and cold overnight as lows fall to the lower 30s. There is a freeze warning for all of central Indiana.

On Thursday, we will be in between systems with a quiet morning. Then shower activity will pick up early evening. As temperatures drop rain will transition to snow showers overnight. The freezing line sets up right over Indy. Areas north of I-70 will see a mix or just plain snow showers. South of I-70 will be rain. Snow will continue through the morning and afternoon giving some snow accumulation for the northern third of the state. Highs by the end of the week should still be in the upper 40s.

This weekend looks split with Saturday being the better of the two days. Saturday highs should break into the lower 50s. Sunday shower chances will return with highs in the lower 60s. Next week highs will trend a bit warmer with most in the lower 60s with shower and storms chances Monday and Wednesday.
