WISH-TV to host coronavirus sports roundtable special
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The year 2020 was poised to be another big one for sports in Indianapolis — until the coronavirus pandemic brought the sporting world to a sudden halt.
Teams, players, organizations and the city of Indianapolis were faced with lost games and lost revenue.
This Thursday at 6:30 p.m., sports director Anthony Calhoun will host a coronavirus sports roundtable special to examine the effect COVID-19 has had on sports in the Circle City.
The group joining the candid discussion includes:
- Greg Rakestraw, voice of the Indy Eleven
- Chris Kaufman, IHSAA assistant commissioner
- Mark Minner, Butler basketball radio play-by-play voice
- Jeremiah Johnson, Indiana Pacers television sideline reporter
- Ryan Vaughn, Indiana Sports Corp president
- Cheyne Reiter, Indianapolis Indians director of communications
- Jake Query: IndyCar Radio announcer
The panel will discuss their initial reactions as the sports world changed and leagues and teams adapted to a lack of sports. They will also break down the economic impact to teams and organizations and discuss what they expect the sports landscape to look like moving forward, as Indianapolis is set to host several more major sporting events in the next couple of years.
