Woman allegedly tries to steal baby on Mother’s Day in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A woman is in custody after allegedly trying to steal another woman’s baby on Mother’s Day.

Around 6:20 p.m. a young mother was pushing her 2-month daughter in a stroller in the 1300 block of  Natoma St.

A 23-year-old woman walking the other way reportedly came over and tried grabbing the infant from the stroller.

“Witnesses intervened and they were able to prevent the suspect from taking the child,” police said.

The suspect, later identified as Diamond Harris of Pleasant Hill, left the scene with three other people, according to police.

Officers found Harris and arrested her.

She was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on felony kidnapping and felony child endangerment charges. She was also booked with a misdemeanor warrant for providing false identification to a police officer.

The three others were released without further incident.
