White County authorities responded to the intersection of U.S. 24 and County Road 300 East for a two-vehicle crash around 4 p.m. The crash happened at the location of a flashing light between the city of Monticello and the town of Reynolds.
Witnesses tell News 18 a small SUV driven by Leitzow was heading south on CR 300 East and attempting to turn left onto U.S. 24, while the pickup truck was going west on U.S. 24 when the vehicles collided.
The White County Sheriff’s Office said Leitzow had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.
