Woman who used drugs in motel room with kids sentenced

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Erica Shires was sentenced to one year in jail after Lafayette police found drugs in her motel room with four children inside.

According to 24-Hours News 8 sister station, WLFI, she pleaded guilty last month to possession of a narcotic drug and neglect of a dependent.

Last November, officers were called a room at the Knights Inn because of a complaint that Shires was using heroin with children present.

Tippecanoe County prosecutors say she was also sentenced to two years of community corrections and two years on supervised probation.
