Woman’s SUV hits structure, then lunges forward, hits another
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman was taken to a hospital after crashing a sport-utility vehicle into two structures Tuesday afternoon on the south side, authorities said.
Indianapolis Fire Deparrtment was called about 2:45 p.m. to the 5500 block of Rue Royale at the Regency Park South Apartments for a structure collapse.
IFD said in tweets that the 35-year-old woman, who was not identified, was taken to Franciscan St. Francis Health hospital in good condition to be checked.
The crash left a gaping hole in two structures, IFD said, and displaced a family of five.
IFD said in one tweet, “Female occupant of car lucky to be unhurt after she says parked car she was sitting in, reverses, hits structure, lunges forward across parking lot, strikes second structure causing windshield to get impaled by balcony at 5543 Rue Royale.”
A crew was sent to the scene to shore up the structures.
