Xtava recalls more than 200,000 hair dryers for fire, burn risk

(WCMH) — A hair styling tool company has issued a major recall for hair dryers after the company received reports of the tools overheating and catching fire.

Xtava is voluntarily recalling more than 200,000 Allure and Allure Pro 2200W ionic ceramic hair dryers sold on online through Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Xtava, Groupon and other websites between October 2014 through August 2018.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the hair dryers and power cords can overheat and catch fire, posing fire, burn and electrical shock hazards. So far, 193 incidents have been reported, with 20% of those incidents resulting in injuries.

Consumers are urged to stop using the hair dryer immediately and to contact Xtava for a free replacement.
