Young cancer survivor on mission to give back

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A young cancer survivor is doing his part to give back to others.

Lucas Hobbs, a Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor and food truck fanatic, created the Chef Lucas Food Truck to travel to various children’s hospitals throughout the United States to feed staff, patients and families as a way to honor those who helped him.

On Friday, he made a stop at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

He said with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and celebrity chef Rachel Ray, his food truck operation is a success.

“While going through those Make-A-Wish events, I was invited to go on the ‘Rachel Ray Show’ and she gave me $10,000 for that and that’s what got my nonprofit started,” Hobbs said.

Hobbs expected to feed more than 1,000 people in Nashville.

He did not receive treatment at Vanderbilt, but at a children’s hospital in his home state of Minnesota.

He remains cancer free.
