No criminal charges after accusations of Hamilton County election sign theft

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – No criminal charges will be filed after Hamilton County authorities questioned a woman accused of stealing campaign signs, the county sheriff’s office said Wednesday night.

Sheriff’s officials said Lisa Hall was caught on camera taking Steve Schwartz signs from the area of 211th Street and Oak Bay Drive in Noblesville.

Schwartz said his signs went missing from that location six separate times during the Republican primary election race. He got fed up and said he installed a trail camera to figure out what was happening to them.

Schwartz’s opponent in the District 3 GOP primary race for county council is Mark Hall.

In 2016, Hamilton County Council candidate Jeff Hern was charged with stealing his opponent’s signs from multiple locations. He won that election but reportedly was ordered to pay his opponent the cost of the stolen signs.
