Zionsville music instructor charged with child molestation
BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The investigation continues after a Zionsville man was arrested and charged with child molestation.
Police said John Olivera, 36, worked as a music instructor in Fishers.
Olivera is being held on $50,000 bond, but in an interview with police he denied the accusations.
He is charged with three felony counts of child molesting.
Six pages of the probable cause revealed that a 12-year-old girl told investigators that Olivera touched her inappropriately on several occasions.
She said it happened while she spent the night at his family’s apartment in Zionsville.
According to the probable cause, the 12-year-old girl told investigators early last month, that the inappropriate touching began in the summer of 2014 then again between January and March of 2015.
An investigator said in one incident, “She stated the next morning that John acted as though nothing had happened.”
The girl’s mother told investigators that her daughter had been exchanging text messages with two friends telling them about the alleged crime.
Investigators recovered some of the deleted text messages and found that in a conversation, “the male juvenile also stated that John once told him that he thought a ten-year-old girl was hot.”
Olivera was brought in for questioning about allegation and his wife sat in on the interview.
“He stated that he would like to speak to an attorney before going any further,” investigators said. “Both John and (his wife’s) reaction to the affiant stating that allegations against him were quite strange. Neither seemed overly shocked or concerned.”
24-Hour News 8 learned that Olivera is a guitar instructor at Michele’s Studio in Fishers. At one point, he was also a worship leader at The Life Center at Southport.
24-Hour News 8 contacted the owner of the studio and the pastor of the church for a comment, but they did not get back to us.
