David Williams joined News 8 in September 2017. He comes to Indianapolis from sunny Orlando, Florida. David grew up in Beltsville, Maryland, with the Nation’s Capital as a backdrop. He originally wanted to become a doctor, but he fell in love with broadcasting in High School. He was voted “Most likely to become a journalist” in Middle School, and it stuck!
David is no stranger to Central Indiana. He is a proud graduate of Ball State University’s College of Communication, Information and Media, where he majored in Telecommunications with a concentration in News. He wore a variety of hats while at BSU including News Director, anchor, reporter and producer for NewsWatch. David also served as a reporter for NewsLink Indiana on WIPB-TV in Muncie.
David started in career at WRTV, on the Assignment Desk. He then went to work as a reporter at KWTX in Waco, Texas, WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky, WTLV/WJXX in Jacksonville, Florida, and WOFL in Orlando.
While in Orlando, David worked as a bureau reporter for WOFL FOX 35. He covered several Central Florida counties and big stories. He has covered Hurricanes and Tropical Storms. David was also one of several reporters to cover the Pulse Nightclub tragedy and the massive manhunt for a man accused of killing an Orlando Police officer.
David and his work have appeared numerous times on Fox News Channel, and has been included on USAToday.com, abcnews.com, BBC Radio 5, and stations across the nation.
David is an avid traveler, and enjoys trying different foods and being outdoors!
